![]() ![]() Release your hands, for your will drags us under. I close my eyes, tell us why must we suffer? Thanks goes to Rainy Moon on Fenrir for posting both Japanese and English lyrics of Byakko's theme, Amatsu Kaze, on their Lodestone blog. Thanks for Annana for the Eorzea Symphony song lyrics, as well (we finally have something for Ultima!). So, without further ado, let us begin with Answers and keep going! And thanks to Catapult, Enkidoh, and Umo for having posted the 1.0 songs' lyrics in other topics-it made it a lot easier to find them! And thanks to lololink for providing the lyrics to the Heavensward teaser trailer theme from the 2014FanFest! Thanks to Anonymoose, as well, for providing information on Ultima's lyrics from Live Letter XIX-there aren't any, sadly. ![]() *+ = name & lyrics have been officially released by SE + = lyrics have been officially released by SE * = name has been officially released by SE After all, why give someone or something a song and have it not be about them?įor reference, songs with the following marks mean as such: Feel free to post whatever your interpretation of the lyrics are-the more people working together, the closer we'll get to knowing what's being sung.įurther, given the nature of these songs, this topic may also help those of us who enjoy the game's lore to better understand the characters or events referenced within these songs. However, for songs that SE hasn't released the lyrics too, then this topic will also serve as a place of discussion for those of us who want to share our interpretations and work together to come up with the most accurate lyrics possible. For songs with vocals which have had its lyrics released by SE via either soundtracks or Developer Blogs, they will simply be copied and pasted here. "All alone he turns to stone/While holding his breath half to death/Terrified of what's inside/To save his life/He crawls like a worm from a bird."īilly Pilgrim is scared of all that's going on but at the same time has accepted it because there's no other option for him.Īs for the crawling like a worm from a bird, this is just a great image for those who are trying to escape from a horrible fate but they, like the worms, know that running is useless, that the bird will find them however, the worm will fight for as long as it can before it's overtaken. This topic will, hopefully, serve as a compilation detailing the lyrics of every song with vocals present in the game. ![]() Most people in the novel write Billy Pilgrim off as completely nutty because he "disappears" in the middle of battle (lights on, but nobody's home), so he sometimes feels like he's going crazy while he knows that the time-warp he's experiencing is very real to his mind. "Out of his mind the way pushes him, whispering/Must have been out of his mind/Midday delusions of pushing this out of his head/Make him out of his mind (out of his mind)." This could be a reference to the coldness of war where all you have is yourself and the enemy merely kills you on sight because that's all that they know. "He wears his heart safety pinned to his backpack/His backpack is all that he knows/Shot down by strangers whose glances can cripple the heart/And devour the soul." So I feel that maybe the song is based on the novel, because the main character Billy Pilgrim is on his own because there's no one who quite understands what he's going on about. The line "so it goes" is used whenever a person dies or a death is mentioned, basically giving a nonchalant reaction to death. "So it goes" is a famous like from Kurt Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse Five" about this man who basically travels through time (Tralfamadores, the aliens who abduct him, see life all at once instead of in time order like we do). "All he knows/If he can't relieve it, it grows/So it goes." I like the idea that this is about a paranoid schizophrenic. This struggle threatens to become the end of him, he hears whispers that tell him to jump… whispers from his other side? He is drowning in this fight, and losing his mind… even though his escape from the “bird” is ultimately in order to save his sanity. It is not strong, but it is the only part of the truth that he still has. His heart is still there, but only just with the help of a few safety pins. The back pack that is all that he knows, suggests how he has simplified his life to nothing more than what he can carry ( literally and figuratively). He is paranoid and anxious from the glimpses that he sees, he must keep away from the truth and pain so that he can try live. Yet this is making him feel crazy, because it is a constant battle to avoid oneself. The bird is the side of himself he is avoiding in order to survive – that person is darker and carries more pain. ![]() He fears the deeper side of himself, and therefore keeps in isolation and does not live as his whole true self, the bit of him that does exist is weaker and has no pride, like a worm in the dirt. ![]()
